HRDC administers the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) program in partnership with Montana Housing to provide long-term rental assistance for individuals and families facing financial hardship. This program is designed to help eligible households stay housed and stable, even during times of crisis. Our team is here to guide you through the process and connect you with the support you need.

Housing Choice Voucher - Section 8

HRDC partners with Montana Housing to administer the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) program in Gallatin, Park, and Meagher Counties. This program provides long-term rental assistance to eligible low-income households. Participants typically pay 30% of their adjusted gross monthly income toward rent, with the remaining portion covered by a federal subsidy.

HOW TO APPLY

You can pick up a paper application from any of our offices, or complete an online application.

Montana Housing will notify you when you come to the top of the waitlist via mail.

HOW TO QUALIFY

To qualify, households must earn at or below 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI).

Applications can be completed online or picked up from any HRDC office.

Once on the waitlist, Montana Housing will contact you by mail when you reach the top.

Be sure to keep your mailing address up to date by submitting a change form if needed.
