HRDC Invites Community to Help Open Doors at Homeward Point
Bozeman, MT — HRDC is inviting the community to join a special Community Move-In Day at Homeward Point on Wednesday, September 3rd, as the organization prepares to open its new year-round emergency shelter and resource hub.
From 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., volunteers, donors, and neighbors are encouraged to take part in this historic milestone. The day will include hands-on volunteer shifts, opportunities to drop off final supplies, and a last chance for the community to see inside Homeward Point before doors officially open to guests on Tuesday, September 8th.
Volunteer Shifts (10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.)
Community members can sign up for two-hour shifts (10:00–12:00 or 1:00–3:00) to support the move-in process. Volunteers will help pack and load items from HRDC’s Warming Center on Wheat Drive and then unload, unpack, and stock supplies at Homeward Point.
Donation Drop-Off & Tours (2:00 – 6:00 p.m.)
Between 2:00 and 6:00 p.m., the community is invited to bring donations of unopened personal hygiene and cleaning supplies to the main entrance of Homeward Point. Light refreshments and guided tours will also be available, offering a special preview of the facility before it welcomes its first guests.
A Historic Moment for Southwest Montana, Homeward Point has been designed not just as a shelter, but as a hub for stability and connection. In addition to safe, dignified shelter, the facility will provide onsite access to housing navigation, healthcare, employment resources, and other critical supports.
“This move-in day is more than an event—it’s our community coming together to welcome our neighbors home,” said Heather Grenier, HRDC’s President/CEO. “Every donation, every volunteer shift, and every gesture of support helps us make sure Homeward Point opens its doors with strength and care.”
