A Holistic Approach
The Homemaker/Personal Care Program develops and delivers services based on an individual’s needs as well as considering the nature of their support system of family and friends.
Homemaker/Personal Care
Serving Gallatin County Residents aged 60 years and older with a priority given to those 75 years and older. This program serves individuals with no appropriate alternative for care. Low income senior citizens are at risk of premature nursing home placement because they cannot afford to pay for the services they need to live safely and independently in their own homes. Many of the most basic functions, which younger people take for granted, are major challenges for the frail elderly who suffer from chronic pain, illness, loss of vision, and impaired mobility. They need assistance with bathing, shopping, preparing meals, laundry and household chores; but, they have barely enough money to pay rent, or buy food and medications. Their health and independence is in jeopardy without help.
“I want to tell you how much I appreciate all that you do to help me. I feel blessed to have you and Jodie (Homemaker) in my life and I don’t know what I would do without you.”
The Homemaker Program allows a person to maintain their dignity and independence. Regular visits from our homemakers provide essential support allowing a person to function independently and retain their dignity for the last few years of their lives. With each visit our Homemakers not only assist with tasks, but also monitors for changes in living conditions reporting to the Nurse any areas of concern. One or more visits by a Nurse each month are conducted to detect adverse changes in the person’s health, adequacy of services, and to assess nutritional needs. Early intervention frequently prevents complications that may otherwise lead to hospitalization or nursing home placement.
If you or someone you know would benefit from Homemaker services, please contact the Program Director for further information.
